K2, the second highest peak in the world after Mt. Everest, is located in Pakistan near the Baltoro Glacier in the extreme north of Baltistan (mini Tibet) just on Tibet (China) and India border. Its great Pyramid-shaped peak rises for over two vertical miles above the surrounding glaciers. Knife edge ridges and impenetrable cliff add to the lure of the summit. Its route is technically challenging, as most of the routes cross prominent avalanche terrain.  From the summit, you will see the entire Karakoram range, including the Gasherbrums (I VII), Masherbrum, Mustagh Tower and Chogolisa. Till now many mountaineers from different parts of the world have successfully climbed to the top of the peak. From Chilas the trip to K2 over Karakoram Highway requires a hard day’s drive in an off – road and then one week’s trekking. The trail that winds over slopes and moraines is one of the most exhausting but also one of the loveliest trails on earth.
